We are looking for a Technical Writer to assist in documenting the business processes, workflows, and internal controls associated with our client’s ERP implementation. The role involves developing clear, structured, and detailed documentation that captures system functionality and operational processes.

This position is ideal for a candidate with experience in ERP system documentation, particularly in a manufacturing environment. You’ll be expected to work collaboratively with internal teams, ask the right questions, and deliver high-quality process narratives that ensure successful system adoption.

Scope and Duration:

Duration: 3 months (potential for extension)
Hours: 20 hours per week, with some flexibility for fluctuations in workload.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in discovery calls and process review meetings to capture and document workflows.
  • Develop process narratives, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and ERP documentation.
  • Write clear, structured, and comprehensive technical manuals.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with ERP system functionality, manufacturing workflows, and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), finance teams, and ERP consultants.
  • Revise and update documentation based on feedback and process changes.
  • Maintain best practices for version control and document management.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in technical writing, ERP documentation, or process documentation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Excellent ability to listen, ask clarifying questions, and translate technical concepts into clear, structured documentation.
  • Experience with internal controls, financial processes, and compliance documentation is a plus.
  • Strong time management, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Confluence, Visio, or other documentation tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience documenting ERP systems such as Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Background in internal control technical writing, internal auditing, and process improvement.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing industry operations and workflows.
